About Us

Tourmaline home was created in 2009 by designer & co-founder Karin Reiter. The collection came about after the desire to move back east (New York to be exact)this prompted a long conversation and hard push from her now business partner. There has been no looking back ever since.

Coming up with the name was a true group effort – involving many friends – in the end what Tourmaline stands for is really what Karin envisioned – a collection that could make you smile & help add a little something special to one’s home.

All the designs are exclusive to Tourmaline home – meaning that the embroideries, appliqués etc. are designed in house and then applied to the solid fabrics (linen, velvet etc) The goal behind the collection was to create a fashion forward collection while keeping the retailer in mind and trying our best to keep the prices realistic. Tourmaline’s pillow philosophy is that pillows are to the room as great pair of shoes is to an outfit – start there and everything else falls into place!

In an effort to keep the collection fresh and also nurture a relationship with our retailers and design firms we add new pillows at every trade show. The workmanship is done by various craftspeople throughout Asia.

Tourmaline’s unique accessory collection is based on vintage finds that are searched out during travels near & far. They are then reproduced in limited edition quantities. This keeps us alert & always searching! As the company continues to grow and develop its colorful lifestyle, we are branching out into other aspects of design. We have introduced our jewelry collection which was very well received. Bags are next along with wall art.
